"The kind of hip-hop Jamla makes is the kind of hip-hop I fell in love with and why I do what I do.” Lucas G. of Refined Hype wrote that, but it’s exactly how I feel about 9th Wonder's label, Jamla Records. You’ve seen me post about the artists frequently, so here’s a little guide to help you get to know them. Hopefully, you will soon understand why I represent Jamla Army day in and day out. #JamlaIsTheSquad!
Much love to the Jamla artists: Actual Proof, Add-2, The Away Team, Big Remo, GQ, HaLo, Heather Victoria, Rapsody, and TP as well as the Soul Council: 9th Wonder, AMP, E. Jones, Eric G., Fatin, Ka$h, and Khrysis.
Got flowers today. Thought it was because of Founders Day. Opened the cards and realized it wasn’t. Had the biggest grin on my face :-D
"Jean Grae released her debut album in Summer ‘02." I remember hearing "God’s Gift" while I was on my honeymoon in Fall ‘02. I was like, "WHO IS THIS?!" Been a fan ever since.
After attending a Christmas parade, I decided to stop at a restaurant for dinner. I was sitting by myself, and this man asks, “Why are you sitting by yourself?!” I told him that I was there alone. Then, he said, “Well, you don’t have to sit by yourself. Come over here with us!”
I’ve never been invited to sit with anyone before, but it didn’t feel weird. The 5 people at the table were very friendly and made me feel so welcome. When we were finished eating, I pulled out my wallet, and the man’s wife told me that they took care of the check. I insisted on paying for my meal, and she just told me, “Merry Christmas” and gave me a hug. That’s one of the nicest things anyone has done for me
I don’t mind eating alone. I count it as my “me” time. But, it was so touching to have strangers invite me to break bread with them. It makes me want to invite someone to my table if I see them dining alone. That gesture just might mean the world to them.
My chapter was in our town’s Christmas parade today. #DST100 #DST (1 of da bruhs had to get in the pic, too.)
